- The music hall performer Richard George Knowles (1858 - 1919). Billed as RG Knowles or "The very peculiar comedian" he was a Canadian by birth. Knowles met with considerable success on the London Music Hall stage with his exuberant "gush of dialogue" quick fire delivery of jokes and songs. For his stage performances he wore a battered hat, white trousers, and a black frock coat.
