Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, because he came from Citta' della Pieve, near Perugia in Umbria, trained with Verrocchio in Florence, learning the art of portraying shapes with linearity. Among the works of his youth are several "Virgins", now in some of the most important museums of the world.
С 1470 работал в мастерской Верроккьо во Флоренции.
In ~1478 he moved to Rome and worked on the Sistine chapel frescos (as did Botticelli, Signorelli, Ghirlandaio and Pinturicchio) painting "Scenes from the life of Moses", and "Scenes from the life of Christ", including the famous "Presentation of the keys to St Peter".
Глубокое воздействие Перуджино оказал на своего ученика Рафаэля.
