Radio boss Jochen Rausch explains in an interview by "The Wolrd" why the prize is appropriate.
"The World": Mr. Rausch, you give on Thursday the Russian girl band Pussy Riot the "1Live crown", the highest honor of her young radio program. What prompted you to this?
Jochen Rausch: We understand the "1Live crown" as a prize, which overlooks the entire pop world, and not only on who is ahead in the charts. Here, the action of pussy Riot was particularly striking. Here was excited by means of the pop world wide attention. Artists such as Sting, Madonna and the Red Hit Chili Peppers have then picked up and carried on.
